Whether you need a small lamp for your desk, a tall one next to your favorite reading chair, or just soft ambience room lighting, you may find it here.
We invite you to browse through our natural unique, one of a kind, beautiful log lamps and shades also. Each lamp is a hand-crafted lamp from a branch, small log or an interesting find in the forest. Lamp pieces have their own natural colors, aged bark and interesting bug travel designs.
You may find lamps cut from a Douglas fir, an aspen, pine, western larch or juniper tree. No two lamp pieces are alike. However a pair of lamps may be made from the same branch providing similarities of wood texture and color. Some lamp pieces may have all or most of the bark removed. Others have only the outer bark layer removed and some inner bark is left for natural color contrast.
Lamp pieces are stored for a period of time allowing the wood to dry to its own shape before cutting. Pieces are carefully hand sanded leaving the natural color of the wood which may vary from light blonde to brown to grey or black. All sharp edges are sanded satin smooth. Lamps are finished with four or five coats of hand rubbed polyurethane to protect and enhance the color and beautiful wood designs.
Bases may be cut from the same kind or a different kind of tree log for balance, and design. Each base is secured to the lamp with two dowels, glue and a heavy screw. A ten foot electrical cord is placed through the base and inside the lamp.
No matter what your décor or style in your home, whether contemporary, rustic or of mixed colors and fashions, we have found that our natural log lamps will complement your home decor.
We do not make floor lamps.
Northwest Montana draws people to see the wildlife moose, deer, elk or fishing sites, as well as the Mountain forests and hills with wildflowers. From these we create designs to hand paint on our shades with oils.
Our shades are made from either heavy white lampshade paper or off white pergamenata parchment paper. Pergamenata paper is machine made in Italy 100% sulphite, PH neutral and translucent. It is meant to simulate the look of traditional parchment. Soft light filters through this paper. After the paper is cut, a wildlife images and/ or floral designs, as seen in northwest Montana, are hand painted with oils. Some shades are made with botanical paper imbedded with dried leaves or flowers. Lastly, the shade is laced with color leather strips.
For maintaining a clean shade, the pergamenata parchment shades may be dusted with a soft brush or cloth. The paper does not yellow or crack as a plastic liners, but stays the same, enduring for years. Do not clean with water. It can cause bumpy buckle of the paper, yet still usable.
